Westhaven Nursing Home

Message: Everyone seems very nice and eager to help my mom. I appreciate everything the staff does to make my mom comfortable.

Message: The building is very old and it shows, trouble heating and cooling. Most of the staff are friendly and competent, C N As are underpaid, but mostly very caring. The kitchen is above average, and food is good. My spouses room is bright and cheery, but heating and cooling not so good.

Message: The nursing home has made an unbearable process easier. The staff are helpful and attentive. In our grief we are still appreciative of care and concern. Thank you.

Message: Friendly staff who really seem to enjoy working with the residents, lots of windows so it’s bright and cheery, lots of activities throughout the week (dominoes, musicians, hand massages, puzzles, pet visits, arts and crafts, church services, bingo, etc). A large outdoor courtyard with a covered area, a walking path, even cornhole games. All this is at Westhaven! When we visit we get some coffee (or tea or water) and hang out outside or in the big room/cafeteria. Right now the decorations are Valentine’s Day…. always decorated in a fun way. Much better and happier place than where our mom was before!

Message: It was great to visit and have time with residents. Employees were very friendly and helpful with keeping everyone safe. Things will move forward faster to normal with their way of following health policies. I loved to see the residents looking good and upbeat. Westhaven is definitely doing things right

Message: Westhaven is clean, the staff are very helpful and accommodating. They are very patient and gentle with the clients. My visit was to a close friend whom recently had a severe stroke and has lost the use of her dominate side of her body. I was there when lunch was served, which took awhile to be served. My friend is essential bedridden and would have been more secure in the wheel chair if fastened in with a belt. She kept sliding down and could have slipped out if unattended. Foot braces on the chair may have also helped. A head rest would also be more comfortable if that is available. Overall, I feel she is being well cared for under the circumstances.. Today (Sunday) I was there at dinner time. Foot braces were on the wheel chair but Jacquie wasn’t secured around the waist. Yet. Two aides noticed she was sliding down and straightened her. The staff where very helpful.. Tuesday the staff provided the patients some entertainment through singing and some dancing. Clients seemed to enjoy it. Met my first staff member who was not very friendly. Meet the physical therapist who were very pleasant and helpful. Most of the problems my friend was having in her wheel chair were addressed.

Message: My experience here has been wonderful. I feel very safe and know that I am in good hands. The staff is really great and treat me with kindness and compassion. They take care of all of my needs. I feel very well taken care of and totally at home here. Food is good and they have fun and enjoyable activities. Wouldn't want to be any where else!
